Dental Surgeries

Westpoint Dental Centre

160 Slade Ln, Manchester M19 2AQ, UK – 0161 224 3610

Friendly and kind dentist that does NHS work. Highly recommended.

Lovely dentist. I was very nervous about going to see a new dentist but everyone was lovely. Been going for over 5 years. My dentist Janet is very reassuring and really friendly. Ive been to see Susie for a scale and polish and filling- shes very nice. I wouldn't go anywhere else.

Dental Practice The

135 Wilbraham Rd, Manchester M14 7DS, UK – 0161 224 7621

Well. I was referred here by my usual dentist about a month ago, for wisdom tooth extraction. I was told that it would take months for it to happen. My appointment was this morning! I was told that it would just be a consultation, that being almost five months pregnant I would probably only get the tooth removed once the baby is born. Honestly, after reading the reviews and seeing the photo of the exterior of this practice (my usual dentist is much more modern) I spent all night panicking and planning to find another surgery to do the work. I turned up and within five painless minutes I had a tooth in a jar. Absolutely brilliant. I'm even considering switching to this dentist rather than the one that I usually use. Barely any time waiting for appointments, really quick treatment, fantastic, friendly staff. I don't know whether the bad reviews here are about a different dentist at the surgery, but I can't fault it. And no, this review was not paid for (which one older post has suggested).

Fantastic experience today with Zara Nortley. I suffer from dental phobia and in the past have only been able to accept dental treatment under sedation. However with her kind and patient treatment today I coped with no pain relief or sedation. Full of praise for this woman. I couldn't have got through it without trusting her and I did. Excellent service and kind and gentle.

Bupa Dental Care Withington

429 Wilmslow Rd, Manchester M20 4AF, UK – 0161 445 3104

I’ve been coming to this dental practice for decades and stayed so long because of my amazing dentist Mr King. Since he retired, I felt that no dentist could compare as favourably, not until Sarah Bundhoo joined the practice. I have been with her for some years now and have absolute faith in her to give excellent dental care. She is very professional, a lovely person and sensitive to her patients’ needs (my daughter, who has Down’s syndrome, also likes coming to her). I would recommend her highly without reservation. If the rating was for Sarah alone, I would give 5 stars, but not for the practice as a whole, hence the 4 star rating.

My dentist is Sarah, who is a lovely person and a very good dentist, I would recommend her to anyone, particularly those who may be nervous of visiting a dentist. I have been a patient for about 3 years now and have had quite a bit of treatment and although I will never enjoy visiting a dentist I have to say Sarah has made me dread my visits less than any other dentist. I also have never had to wait long for an appointment, more than can be said for many NHS dentists. The offices are modern, clean and bright, and being on the main road are easy to get to by public transport or driving. There are several parking spaces right outside the front door and a bus stop a few yards away.

Wilmslow Road Medical Centre

156 Wilmslow Rd, Manchester M14 5LQ, UK – 0161 224 2452

I saw the doctors about my depression and he was very sympathetic and kind and understanding as I was very apprehensive and embarrassed to talk about but he made me feel comfortable. The wait isn't long too which is always a plus

Totally disagree with the former review, the practice manager has totally turned the practice around in the past few months, improving premises facility service and access. patients will not recognise the place if they attend today. Rubi is the most helpful person in the practice going above and beyond her role as practice manager. I am confident that most if not all patients would echo my review rather than the malicious malik saab

The Wilbraham Surgery

515 Wilbraham Rd, Manchester M21 0UF, UK – 0161 881 6120

I recently moved into the area and joined as a new patient on the day i needed an emergency appointment. The staff were lovely and were able to squeeze me into see a doctor the same day when they could see how ill and weak i was. The doctor was very thorough and took bloods and tests there and then. Much appreciated.

I have contacted the Wilbraham Surgery on a number of occasions with concerns for two elderly friends who are patients of the practice. The response has been prompt and professional on each occasion. Thanks to the staff and doctors.

Ellesmere Medical Centre

262 Stockport Rd, Stockport SK3 0RQ, UK – 0161 426 5276

Ellesmere Medical Centre is brilliant. From the receptionists, nurses and doctors I have had excellent service. All are very friendly and helpful, I would recommend this practice wholeheartedly.

NHS Direct is now NHS 24. Just dial 111 to speak to a professional or click the link below for there self help website. Lots of really useful info but keep clear of heart surgery! If in doubt ask your GP or call 111. Good luck.

Spire Manchester Hospital

170 Barlow Moor Rd, Manchester M20 2AF, UK – 0161 447 6677

I stayed on the Endoscopy ward under the care of Mr Stylianides. From arrival to departure I was looked after, with all staff going the extra mile. My consultant kept me informed every step of the way, he was a lovely caring and very professional man. I would like to say a massive thanks to Donna who looked after me on the ward, Nadir the lovely anaesthetist who made me feel at ease, Liz the lovely kind nurse who looked after me in recovery, Jessica from self pay who certainly went the extra mile to help and Emma, Mr Stylianides personal secretary for being professional and kind. All in all I would definitely recommend this wonderful hospital.

Just spent 2 nights at the spire hospital in didsbury having a total hip replacement under the care of professor max fehily. The care I received whilst in there was absolutely first class .Everybody I met during my operation and aftercare were all lovely people and were only interested in me and my wellbeing .so Thank you to everyone I met at the spire you are all doing a fantastic job.

BMI The Alexandra Hospital

Mill Ln, Cheadle SK8 2PX, UK – 0161 428 3656

Having been back to the Alexandra this week and stayed for 3 days, I have to say what a fantastic place. The staff on the Chester ward were amazing and the catering staff always a pleasure to see. Highly recommended, clean and great procedures. *****

Amazing treatment from all members of staff, extremely friendly and caring especially Caroline on Chester intensive care ward. She has been looking after my dad and my dad couldn’t stop praising her, he doesn’t remember much but he remembers how nice Caroline has been during his stay. Thank you!!

Withington Community Hospital

Nell Ln, Manchester M20 2LR, UK – 0161 434 5555

Very friendly and helpful staff - went to a walk in session and everything was sorted in 1.5 hours. Bit of waiting in between seeing people but they really went out of their way to make sure I had every single bit of information I needed.

Nice facilities friendly staff but overall the service is inadequate and less than expected. Definitely it leaves a taste of disappointment for the NHS with evidence of fragmented health care and people performing meaningless bureaucratic processes just to show that they are working. A very expensive car parking also.

The new NHS website below is very well worth a look. Hospitals are not only listed but evaluated. I certainly know which ones I would go to! At the very least you will know what questions to ask if you are sent to one which has not entered its data. Good luck!

Note that if you are disposing of plaster, plasterboard etc. If you say it was left behind by your builder or plasterer you will be asked to pay ÂŁ100 ish. If you say it's your waste and you did the work it's free. Just saying....

Friendly staff just don't turn immediately left if you are in a vehicle under two metres! We queued an hour without reason because signage is poor. Upon entering go straight ahead if in a normal car toward domestic waste. Overwise well.organised place

Local Restaurants & Places to Eat around Manchester

The Lime Tree

8 Lapwing Ln, Manchester M20 2WS, UK – 0161 445 1217

I can't say I was overly impressive on our last visit, the restaurant was relatively quiet & yet my partner's steak came out cold! Her scallops weren't cooked particularly well either. When we ordered our mains we forgot to order a vegetable side, a decent waiter would have pointed out that it would be a good addition (I had the fish) which would definitely have benefited from a side!

Great food, lovely staff and not bad prices either. We arrived on a sunday when it was busy and they didn't have room for us but they were happy to seat us outside with the weather being nice and it turned put to be a really nice place to sit. They change their menus fairly regularly which keeps it fresh and exciting. There was lots of choice for everyone's tastes and I nearly had all three courses! I got the grilled seabass on the fishcake and it was delicious and worked really well with the pea puree. It was just enough to leave room for dessert. I had the sticky toffee pudding, we all had different desserts and they all looked really good. Not small like when you go certain places and you feel disappointed but not too big either. I really enjoyed this meal and I will deffo be going back

Great food and service - quite pricey, but not too drastic

Great place, great service and great food. Everyone there makes you feel welcome and can't do enough for you. Top marks!

Great school for kids to excel in their studies and provide the foundations for a better future

My son attends this school and Insh'Allah so will my daughter. I think the staff and facilities are very good. This is still a very young school and I feel that it is continually getting better. My son used to attend a long established grammar school and I feel they are very comparable, however, here my son learns about Islamic values.
